Highland Fling

In Edinburgh and the surrounding countryside for Dan's cousin's wedding, we enjoyed all the scottish traditions, most notably drinking; think I might have had a wee dram most nights we were there...  The last wedding I'd been to was a good couple of years before, and a suitable outfit was required. Me and dresses have a love/hate relationship, namley that I either love or hate them on first sight (or try-on). This Barbara Hulanicki for Topshop dress was a runaway winner - loved the colour, style and fabric, and even though it might have bordered on indecent during my twirling dancefloor debut, it has now cemented and earned it's place in my wardrobe.

Black Saturday

I wore this last weekend to go out for dinner with Dan's parents, who had been visiting for the weekend. We had spent the day getting lost in Penarth, the next little area in Cardiff along from ours; however if being lost meant that we found one of the best and untouched vintage shops I've been in, then that was a blessing! Forever Vintage is a treasure trove of jewels, laced hats, ancient suitcases and the glorious smell that clothes with history give off. I dug out a apricot and hot pink maxi-dress with a huge exotic flower print, pulled it on and it fit as though it had been tailored for me. Will probably lop it off to a mini-dress as my height doesn't really correspond to 'maxi' - I will post pictures soon.

By the time we got dressed for dinner on the waterfront, the water came to us. The rain was torrential and any visions of Summer dresses and open toe heels were washed firmly away, leaving me with a more sombre option, but I made a nod to brights with a vintage belt.

Hearts and Stripes

It's not always about the cost of the clothes, it's about how you wear them. This outfit incorporates a 99p shirt and an £13 skirt with cute buttons - showing that sometimes you don't need to spend any more than that. I said 'sometimes' though......

1,2,3 jump

Even though Stella McCartney must be sick of jumpsuits as she singlehandedly pulled them back into the 21st century, I am still all over them. I'm not much of a 'dress' girl, but still love the concept of being able to wear one item and it's the whole outfit done. This one is from A-Wear and I love the epaulettes and turn-up details. Definitely one to wear with heels though - my short legs couldn't cope with anything less...

A dash of lime

Making use of our idyllic location, this is the navy strapless playsuit that I got from Topshop a while ago, and can be dressed up or down - and I love it! I think that navy with lime green accents and wooden jewellery, is a winning combination - I also have a sundress in royal blue that I will be testing this theory with over the summer...

All at sea

Setting sail for our French holiday, and chasing the sun - such a gorgeous day...  Can't write this without talking about my new sandals which are the piece de resistance (oooh, very apt!) of my wardrobe at the moment. Part of River Island's Graduate fashion Week range, and designed by an up and coming graduate, they are comfortable, yet instantly update everything I wear with an urban jungle feel. Mixed reviews from those close to me, but they'll see!

Panels

Due to yet another Topshop splurge,  I had a couple of new pieces to wear out to a friend's birthday drinks - these 'jeggings' (I hate that word, but it does the job) which are are new favourites because they are as tight as jeans could get, and this mesh panel batwing top which I didn't try on but bought on a whim - it reminded me a bit of this top Pixie Geldolf wore once and I loved - glad I got it as I'll wear it loads...  need more statement bras though!
